Oh My Gourd!

Pumpkin "patch" at Black Fox near Saskatoon, SK. Hardly what I imagined a patch of pumpkins to be like when it was the size of 2 football fields! Over 20,000 pumpkins, they told us.   In this autumnal  season we associate the greatness of pumpkins (even their name is fun to say), with that most haunted day of the year, or the pie we might share this Thanksgiving. For me, it's the pumpkin-spiced latte that I must sip every fall, to remind myself that it shouldn't be a thing.   Standing in that field, maybe it was the sheer abundance, their round plump shapes and orange hues amidst a tangle of vines that made us agree  -- we were in a "joyful place".   Each pumpkin unique -- a testament to nature's creativity. I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! May you take moments of gratitude for all the people and places that bring  you a glow of aliveness, a warming in your heart, a sense of contentment and appreciation of life.
