Working on That?

Are you busy as that beaver, always working at something? A home reno? Computer work? Working in the kitchen? Our North American culture is steeped in the language of work. Wearing 'crazy busy' as a badge of honour is interesting to me. Even the waiter asks if we are "still working on that" half-finished plate. Why do folks get to 'play' an instrument, when I 'work' in my studio?... that doesn't feel as much fun. Perhaps the word 'working' suggests that others should take our efforts seriously, lest we be considered lazy or undeserving.
What if we took things slower or easier? 'Easy' can be about changing our perceptions of an experience. It doesn't mean drop your standards, or to never take action. Rather, try dropping the 'work' mentality and choose a spirit of ease and curiosity.
Yap, I so agree! If one doesn't say how "busy" they are, people seem to snub at that. Really, take some time to truly enjoy what you are doing, yes it may be called 'work' but it can still be fun with a good attitude :) I love this post - the Western world does need to learn slow down. Your last sentence says it all. Lovely thank you!
